Save BIG on Skiing and Snowboarding with the Grade 4/5 SnowPass

SnowPass

Looking for big savings on skiing and snowboarding this winter? (Aren’t we all?!) If you have kids in Grade 4 or 5, you definitely want to invest in the SnowPass. This is a great opportunity to try out local hills, and even some mountain resorts for one extremely LOW price!

Please Note: We do our best to keep the information Alberta Mamas current and accurate, but all information shared is subject to change. Please check the website and/or social media for the organizations directly (we always try to link to them!) to confirm before travelling.

How The SnowPass Works

For just $29.99 the SnowPass gives you access to ski areas across Canada. In Alberta, there are over a dozen participating hills including Marmot Basin, Norquay, and Castle Mountain!

The SnowPass gives kids access to two lift tickets per location, with varying requirements out of the parents. Many hills require an adult on location or purchasing a lift ticket.

Starting with the 2023/24 ski season the SnowPass is valid for one ski season. If you’re like me and familiar with the older 2-year system, this is a change to take note of!

There are black-out dates in effect at some ski hills around the winter break and Family Day. Make sure to check the website ahead of time if you plan to use it at that time.

Note that the SnowPass can’t be used on school trips, for competitions, or in combination with another discounted product.

Signing Up

Signing up for a SnowPass is SO easy.

  1. Add a SnowPass to your cart.
  2. Create a parent account (or log in to your existing one).
  3. Fill in the application. You will need:
    • a “passport” style photo of your child, and
    • proof of age or grade in school.

That’s all! Your application should be reviewed and approved within 2 business days (so don’t leave this until the last minute!).

Using Your SnowPass

You must book your day/time through the Canadian Ski Council’s portal. Try to do this at least a few days ahead of time (or as soon as you know when you’re going).

You can book your visit the day you plan to go, but run the risk of it being sold out.

Cancelling your visit must be done prior to 30 hours before 6 am on the date you booked. For example, is if you booked for a Saturday, you have until Thursday at 11:59:59 PM to make changes.

Our Experience With a SnowPass

Alberta Mama Jen purchased a SnowPass for the 2022/23 ski season, and has used it at a few Edmonton ski hills and at Marmot Basin. She says:

The one time fee for so many days of skiing is an incredible deal! It makes family trips so much more affordable and enjoyable. With a couple local Edmonton hills participating we’re able to get our legs back before heading to the mountains.

I highly recommend picking up your lift pass at the Marmot shop in Jasper the day before you go skiing so you can avoid the lift ticket line. We got into town just after it closed on our trip and had to spend about 45 minutes waiting to convert the pass into an RFID tag.
