#MomCrushMonday – Gabriela Tellier

WAHM/D, SAHM/D, Work out of the home or other?

I was a SAHM for the first three years of motherhood, and have been back in the work world for a year and half.

# of Kids? Ages?

I am the mother of two beautiful littles; Penelope is 4 and Oliver is 2.

What movie makes you cry?

I watched “Life is Beautiful” a few months ago, and watching that movie again as a mother – WOW- I cried a lot. It’s so powerfully beautiful!

Tell us about a mom/dad who inspires you?

As a child of immigrant parents, I can easily say that my parents really inspire me. Their strength, courage and selflessness to sacrifice a lot in their own lives in order to provide their children a safe, healthy and happy life; it’s SO inspiring.

What’s the fondest memory you have of your life as a mom/dad so far? The biggest challenge?

My fondest memory of motherhood so far, is hearing my children say “I love you” to each other for the first time. Watching their relationship foster in general, is one of the most beautiful things I get to witness.

My biggest challenge as a mom is the constant “was I enough today?”. Did I spend enough quality time with them today? Did I show them I loved them enough today? Did I listen to them enough today? etc. I understand that it comes from a place of love for them, but I’m trying to be mindful to be kind to myself as well. We can only do the best we can.

Would you rather be able to see 10 minutes into your own future or 10 minutes into the future of anyone but yourself? Why?

I don’t think I would be able to choose. If I could relive any 10 minutes of my life again, I would absolutely choose that instead…and 10 minutes wouldn’t be enough. But the lesson I take from that is that the only guaranteed time is right now, so being present, especially in the younger years of motherhood, is a gift.

You and your oldest child switch bodies for an hour. What do they do? What do you do?

Penelope (4) is very much into dressing up lately, so she would try on all the clothes and shoes in my closet, and love that they fit well.

I, in the body of a 4 year old, would relish in how much energy she seems to have all the time haha.
