Best Pizza Restaurants in Alberta

Finding this list was a bit of a fluke.

It started as a quick Facebook post while we were camping.

I needed something to post. No time for research. No access to my photo bank. So I copied a question that had well in the Alberta with Kids Facebook group:

“What Alberta restaurant is worth driving HOURS for?”

and move on with making dinner.

Four hours later, I checked back. Hundreds of comments poured in from Albertans passionately sharing their favourite restaurants, diners, burger joints, bakeries, pizza places, steakhouses, cafes, and hidden gems across the province.

Now, with almost 900 replies, I’ve sorted through the recommendations, counted the repeat favourites, and organized the restaurants Albertans say are worth the drive.

Alberta’s Favourite Pizza Restaurants

There were two obvious winners in the search for Alberta’s best restaurants when it came to pizza.

• Derwent Hotel & Pizza, Derwent: “I’ve never had better pizza anywhere.”; “If you go on a Friday night, expect at least a 2 hour wait.” Recommendations: 26
• Rowley Pizza Night; A monthly community pizza night held on the last Saturday of each month, frequently recommended as a must-try small-town experience. Arriving early is strongly encouraged. Recommendations: 3
