The terrible “mom guilt” sets in when we let our children watch TV. There’s that “don’t use TV as a babysitter” concept that we hear all over the place. While the moment to limit screen time is definitely for the best interest of our children some TV time doesn’t have to be all bad.
I’m one of those moms that hugely controls what her children watch. Although both my children (even my 3 year old) knows how to navigate Netlflix. Although Netflix has a HUGE selection of all sorts of shows and movies for children to watch, I have carefully chosen shows for my children to watch. Shows they love that also have some educational value to them. I’m an elementary school teacher. Learning all day, every day is just in my blood.
To make your life easier, I wanted to share a list of 5 shows your children can watch without you having to worry or feel any sort of mom guilt.

Justin Time
This is one of the cutest shows I have ever seen. It’s about a CANADIAN boy; Justin and his friend Squidgy as he enjoys being a kid. He encounters “problems” and he is transported to different countries around the world to find out how to solve those problems or learn a lesson. He travels to countries all over the world from China to the Netherlands, Egypt and Italy to just name a few.

The Magic School Bus
A classic that never gets old. I enjoyed it as a child and my children enjoy it just as much. Miss Frizzle takes her students on extravagant field trips to help them learn about anything you can imagine. To learn about the solar system, they turned their school bus into a space ship, dodged asteroids and strapped on space suits to explore. After a classmate gets a cold, his classmates take a fieldtrip into his sinuses to learn all about why we get sick.

Ask the Storybots
The Storybots are curious little creatures that live beneath our screens whose mission is to answer all the questions that all children have. They go out to find answers to questions such as: How do computers work? How do people catch a cold? How do ears hear? I’m sure we all have those questions too!
Don’t have Netflix? No problem. All of these shows can be easily found on Youtube!
